2013 PVYA Brunswick Swim Team All-Stars!

Rapids Grisez Takes 3rd in All Star Meet

The morning started out like most swim meets except this meet would host over 500

swimmers. Hundreds of families scattered their tents and canopies admidst the field at

Frederick High School. The school's indoor pool is one of only a few in Frederick that can

host a meet this size. The All Star meet is for individual swimmers who have met the league

time standards in one or more of four competitive swimming events (freestyle, backstoke,

breaststroke, and butterfly). “The competition is very strong and the rankings are very tight”

stated coach Miller, “anything can happen”. “Experience is a key factor at this meet. The

swimmers have to adjust quickly to a much larger indoor pool, starting blocks, and a very loud

crowd”.

Overall, the Rapids did quite well. The team fielded 10 swimmers in 24 events. The Rapids

ranked in the top 10 in 14 of their 24 events. Even though some swimmers finished below

their top 10 spots, others actually moved up, allowing the team to finish with 15 top 10

finishes! The team also posted 15 new best times!

Jessica Grisez saved her best performance for the girls 15-18, 100 yard freestyle. Seeded 4th

there.” Grisez placed 5th in the 100 IM, 8th in the 50 butterfly and 9th in the 50 yard freestyle.
